Three Injured in Three-Car Crash

A three-car crash Monday evening north of Sioux Center sent three people to the hospital.  The Sioux County Sheriff’s office says the crash occurred on highway 75 one mile north of Sioux Center at 6:05pm.

29-year-old Viviana Ramos-Valencia of Hull was travelling north in a Chevy Tahoe on Highway 75; 52-year-old Kelly Eisma of Hawarden was travelling south on the highway in semi tractor/trailer.  39-year-old Megan Willits of Sioux Center was driving west on a private driveway when she entered the highway and struck Ramos-Valencia and Eisma.

Ramos, Willits and a 13-year-old passenger in the Willits vehicle were injured in the crash and taken to Sioux Center Health for treatment.  Their injuries are said to be minor; Eisma was uninjured.

The Tahoe sustained approximately $20,000 in damage. Willits’ Chrysler sustained an estimated $10,000 in damage. The Peterbilt sustained approximately $15,000 in damage.

Willits was cited for failure to yield upon entering a highway. Ramos was arrested and charged with operating a motor vehicle with a barred driver’s license.
