Theft of ATM Abandoned

Osceola County authorities found a running pickup with a chain tied to it and an ATM machine at the Sibley State Bank early Thursday morning.  The preliminary investigation revealed that the pickup was stolen from the Cooperative Farmers Elevator location in Sibley.

Osceola County Sheriff Kevin Wolmuth says security camera footage showed the attempted theft occurred about 3:10 a.m., but the perpetrators were wearing ski masks and hoodies, so their identities could not be determined.

Wolmuth says the perpetrators were successful in pulling the ATM from its base.  The suspects ran to a different car and fled the scene after inspecting the ATM.  Wolmuth speculates the suspects decided they would not be able to load the ATM into the pickup and abandoned the idea.

The investigation continues, and authorities ask if anyone has any information on the incident, to contact the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office in Sibley.
