An 18-year-old woman was taken to the hospital following a two-vehicle collision Friday night in Sioux Center.
The Sioux Center Police Department says the crash happened shortly before 10 p.m. at the uncontrolled intersection of 5th Street Northeast and 2nd Avenue Northeast.
According to the accident report, the 18-year-old was driving a 2009 Toyota Sienna east on 5th Street. A 2007 Toyota RAV4 driven by a 33-year-old woman was traveling north on 2nd Avenue.
The Sienna driver told police she believed the RAV4 was slowing to allow her through the intersection. She said the other vehicle must have been traveling faster than she expected before the two vehicles collided.
The 18-year-old reported possible injuries and was transported by Sioux Center Ambulance to Sioux Center Health. The RAV4 driver also reported possible pain or injury but was not transported.
Four people were in the Sienna, and two were in the RAV4. The report did not indicate whether any passengers were injured.
Both vehicles were totaled, with combined damage estimated at $14,000.
Police cited the 18-year-old for failure to yield to a vehicle on the right and driving without a valid license. The Sioux Center Police Department did not release the names of the drivers.
