Sunday Evening Vehicle Fire Closes Highway 60

Both lanes of Highway 60 were closed Sunday evening so crews could respond to a car fire. At about 5:18 pm, Sioux County emergency personnel were called to the scene about two miles south of Hospers on the highway. Sioux County Sheriff Office investigators say 18-year-old Anthony Santana of Sibley was southbound on Highway 60 when he noticed smoke coming from the engine compartment of his jeep Wrangler. He was able to drive the Jeep to the side of the road where it started on fire. The Hospers Fire Department was assisted by the Granville Fire Department in extinguishing the fire, no injuries were reported.
