SPENCER, Iowa (KTIV) – Meetings to inform landowners about the second phase of the Summit Carbon Solutions carbon capture pipeline route continues this week.
The Iowa Utilities Commission requires companies seeking permits to hold these informational meetings with landowners prior to getting easements for the land that’s needed.
Tuesday night’s meeting was held in Spencer, Iowa. Many questions raised reflected safety concerns raised following historic flooding in June.
Officials with Summit Carbon Solutions say these meetings are just the first step in a long process. Statewide to date, Summit Carbon has signed 75% of landowners up to volunteer easements on the phase one portion, and this begins the process on the phase two portion.
There are more informational meetings, in northwest Iowa, this week.
