Siouxperman, Harvest Half Donate $8,500 to Local Organizations

The Siouxperman Triathlon and Harvest Half Marathon & 10K are once again investing in community wellness, announcing $8,500 in donations to local organizations throughout Sioux Center and Sioux County.

The annual contribution marks the eighth year the races have shared proceeds and support with community organizations. Race Director Jason Moeller says promoting wellness and strengthening the community have been central goals of the events since the first Siouxperman Triathlon was held in 2007.

“Wellness and community have been the purpose of these events since the first Siouxperman in 2007,” Moeller said. “We have great local support, which makes the Harvest Half and Siouxperman Triathlon possible each year. And we have great participants, who inspire us and make it possible to give back.”

The largest donation this year is a $3,000 contribution to the Sioux County Trails, representing the final year of a five-year pledge from the race organizations.

Another $2,000 donation is going to Sioux Center Parks. Part of that funding will help purchase two new benches along Sioux Center’s recreational trail system.

Several donations were directed toward organizations that help make the races possible each year.

The Dordt Hockey received $1,300 for assisting with Siouxperman setup, operations, and teardown activities. Meanwhile, Dordt Swimming received $700 for helping manage the swim portion of the triathlon.

Race organizers also recognized local emergency responders who help ensure participant safety during race events and throughout the community.

Donations included:

•$500 to the Sioux Center Police Department
•$500 to the Sioux Center Ambulance
•$500 to the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office

Moeller says the races continue to be about more than competition, serving as a way to bring people together while encouraging healthy lifestyles.

“Our races are all about bringing people together: participants, sponsors, fans, and the volunteers that encourage them along the way,” he said. “We’re preparing for our fall event, the Harvest Half Marathon & 10K on Oct. 3, and we’d love to have you be part of it.”

The next Harvest Half Marathon & 10K is scheduled for Saturday, October 3.
