(KIWA) — A Sioux Falls woman has been arrested on a felony money laundering charge after investigators allege she gambled with stolen money at Grand Falls Casino near Larchwood.
Paige Meyer, 22, was arrested Monday, October 12th, on a warrant stemming from an incident in June.
According to a criminal complaint filed by the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation, Meyer and another person were suspects in a robbery at the 777 Casino in Sioux Falls.
An agent’s statement alleges the two went to Grand Falls Casino shortly after the robbery and played approximately $4,000 in slot machines. Investigators allege the money included cash taken during the Sioux Falls robbery and that the gambling was an attempt to conceal or disguise its source.
Meyer is charged in Iowa with money laundering, a Class C felony carrying a possible prison sentence of up to 10 years if convicted.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for October 23rd in Lyon County Court.
At last report, Meyer was being held in the Lyon County Jail in Rock Rapids on a $10,000 bond.
