As Thanksgiving and holiday travel ramp up, Sioux County Emergency Management (SCEM) is urging residents to double-check their vehicle emergency kits before hitting the road.
SCEM Coordinator Ryan De Kruyf says when winter weather hits, it’s hard to know how long it may take for emergency crews to get to you.
He lists some of the items that your emergency kit should have.
De Kruyf also notes that you should have a certain amount of gas in your tank while traveling in the winter.
Unpredictable traffic and winter weather can make preparation essential. They also recommend having a first-aid kit, warm clothing, a flashlight, and an ice scraper or winter tools as part of your emergency kit.
