Sioux County Secondary Roads has been awarded $175,875 in federal funding for debris removal following the severe storms and flooding of June 2024.
U.S. Sen. Chuck Grassley’s office announced the Federal Emergency Management Agency grant Tuesday. The funding will support jurisdiction-wide debris removal operations related to damage from severe storms, flooding, straight-line winds, and tornadoes.
“I’m glad to see this money heading to Sioux County as they continue to rebuild following terrible storms in 2024. I appreciate the Trump administration for making Iowans a priority. In the Senate, I’ll keep working to ensure our state gets the funding needed to invest in our communities and rebuild after tragedy strikes,” Grassley said.
The award notice lists Sioux County Secondary Roads as the applicant and June 24, 2024, as the disaster declaration date.
The debris removal grant is separate from the recently announced award of more than $4.3 million to the City of Rock Valley for permanent repairs to its water and wastewater treatment, collection, and distribution systems.
Grassley’s announcement did not provide a schedule for disbursing the Sioux County funding or identify individual debris removal locations.
