Sioux City Man Faces Charges in Lyon County

A Sioux City man has been arrested on felony eluding charges after a pursuit near George.

According to a criminal complaint filed with the Lyon County Clerk of Court’s Office, 34-year-old Kent Vink of Sioux City is accused of eluding a county deputy on August 15th while driving a motorcycle at more than 25 miles per hour over the speed limit. He was arrested on Tuesday.

The deputy says Vink was traveling at a high rate of speed. The deputy attempted a traffic stop, but he says Vink eluded him and eventually lost control of the motorcycle. He says after further investigation, he believes the registered owner had sold the bike to Vink, but Vink had not registered it in his name.

Vink was charged with eluding, which, in this case, is a class C felony. He also faces misdemeanor charges, including motorcycle license violation, speeding, failure to maintain control, driving without a license, failure to yield to an emergency vehicle, new title or registration transfer violation, driving under suspension, reckless driving, and careless driving.

He faces a preliminary hearing on the charges on September 12th

At last report, Vink remained in the Lyon County Jail in Rock Rapids. His bail is set at $10,000.
