Sioux Center to Host 1st Round NAIA National Softball Tournament

NAIA softball teams from across the nation will be playing national tournament games in Sioux Center this month.

Sioux Center’s Open Space Park softball diamond was selected as one of 10 host sites across the country for the 2024 NAIA Softball National Championship Opening Round to be held May 13-16.

Northwestern College is the host and worked with Sioux Center Parks staff to apply for the site selection. Between 4-5 of the 48 National Championship teams will be playing the double-elimination bracket in Sioux Center for the Opening Round. The winner from each Opening Round site will advance to the NAIA Softball World Series in Columbus, Georgia, beginning May 23.

Sioux Center Parks Director Lee Van Meeteren says it’s an honor to partner with Northwestern College and use Open Space Park as a host site. He looks forward to extending the hospitality of northwest Iowa and showcase the quality of facilities that are here.  NAIA Tournament sites were selected in part by the NAIA Softball National Championship Selection Committee, taking into account geography, facilities, and other factors. Other 2024 host sites are in Missouri, Kentucky, Georgia, Indiana, Oklahoma, Oregon, Texas, and Mississippi.
