Sioux County authorities arrested a Sioux Center man Sunday night following a reported disturbance involving a gun.
According to the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office, the arrest occurred at 9:14 p.m. Sunday at a residence on Garfield Avenue, about three miles west of Sioux Center. Deputies say 60-year-old Ross Hooyer of Sioux Center was involved in a verbal dispute at the home when he retrieved a firearm from inside the residence and discharged it outside while pursuing the other person involved.
Hooyer was taken to the Sioux County Jail and charged with assault while displaying a dangerous weapon.
No injuries were reported. The incident remains under investigation.
