Sioux Center Library Issues Statement on Trustee’s State Appointment

The Sioux Center Public Library has issued a public statement in response to questions regarding Library Board Trustee Teri Hubbard’s recent appointment to the Iowa Commission of Libraries.

Hubbard was appointed to the commission by Kim Reynolds. Library officials released the following statement:

“The Sioux Center Public Library has received questions regarding Library Board Trustee Teri Hubbard’s recent appointment to the Iowa Commission of Libraries. This appointment was made directly by Governor Kim Reynolds and not by appointment by the Sioux Center Library or (the) Sioux Center Library Board as a whole.

While Ms. Hubbard currently serves on the Sioux Center Library Board of Trustees, her role on the Iowa Commission of Libraries is a separate appointment. She does not serve on that commission as a representative of the Sioux Center Public Library or its Board of Trustees. Ms. Hubbard will be representing herself and her own personal interests on this advisory board.

Community members with questions about the Iowa Commission of Libraries or Ms. Hubbard’s role on that commission are encouraged to contact her directly.”
