A Sioux Center bicyclist was taken to the hospital after a collision with a pickup in a Sioux Center parking lot Wednesday afternoon, September 30th.
The Sioux Center Police Department reports the crash happened at approximately 2:11 p.m. in a parking lot along 7th Street Northeast.
According to police, Micah John Vande Hoef of Sioux Center was driving a 2020 GMC pickup northbound through the parking lot. Arlin Glen Vander Weide, also of Sioux Center, was riding a bicycle westbound out of a parking space.
Police say Vander Weide pulled out in front of the pickup, which struck him from the side.
The Sioux Center Ambulance transported Vander Weide to Sioux Center Health with suspected minor injuries. Vande Hoef was not injured.
The report lists failure to yield the right-of-way by the bicyclist as a contributing circumstance. No citations were listed in the report.
