Sioux Center Arts Hosting Inaugural One Act Festival

Cailan Matthews, Director of Sioux Center Arts, recently discussed the upcoming One Act Festival on The Daily Grind. This first-ever event promises an exciting mix of drama, fun, and laughter with five one-act plays directed by five local directors and performed by over twenty cast members.

The festival is a platform for new talent in directing and acting, offering a low-commitment way for community members to engage with theater. Festival directors participated in an intensive workshop led by Professor Laurel Koerner of Dordt University and Professor Molly Weibe-Faber of Northwestern College. Matthews emphasized the community’s enthusiastic support for theater and the importance of developing new directors.

The One Act showcase will take place at Te Paske Theater on Friday, November 22nd at 7:00 PM and Saturday, November 23rd at 2:00 PM. Tickets are $8 for adults, while students and children can attend for free. Cailan also offered The Daily Grind listeners a generous “buy one-get one” promotion! Additionally, Matthews highlighted the Hollander Jazz Christmas Concert, part of Sioux Center’s Chamber of Commerce’s Hometown Holiday Weekend. The concert will take place on Friday, December 6th at 7:00 PM in the Te Paske Theater. Tickets for both events are available at: siouxcenterarts.ticketleap.com/oneact/.

Matthews was also excited to announce that “Annie” has been chosen as the musical for next year’s Summer Celebration production. Auditions will be held in January.
