Sioux Center Accident Leaves Vehicle, Stoplight Totaled

Sioux Center — The Sioux Center Police Department reported an accident on Tuesday morningat the intersection of 13th Streetand Highway 75 in Sioux Center.

35-year old Sioux Center Resident Margarita Morales Ramos was driving her gray 2009 Acadia south when the accident occurred. Officer Jack Brundell reports that Morales Ramos was attempting to avoid running into another vehicle before the collision with the stop light.

“(A) Vehicle heading south bound ran a red light,” Brundell said. “(The vehicle) swerved to avoid a t-bone collision to the east, and took out one of those temporary orange stop lights that was sitting at that dentist property.”

The total damages sustained by the car and trailer are estimated to be nearly $20,000. The stop light received approximately $75,000 in damages.However, Officer Brundell said that nobody was in need of Emergency Medical Services.
“I’m no mechanic, but I believe that both the car and the traffic light are totaled. No EMS transport (was necessary),” Brundell stated.

Sioux Center Dental also receieved $250 worth of damage to its lawn. Morales Ramos was charged with failure to obey a traffic control device and with no valid drivers license .
