The Sioux County Sheriff has released additional information and the names of the victims of Wednesday’s fatal crash, and another has died. On Wednesday, December 11, at 5:25 a.m., the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office responded to a 9-1-1 report of a motor vehicle accident that occurred at the intersection of 390th Street and Garfield Avenue, three miles west of Sioux Center, IA.

Renzo Parra, age 27, of Chicago, IL, was driving a Honda Fit northbound on Garfield Avenue. Elizabeth Hutton, age 28, of Hawarden, IA, was driving a Chevrolet Impala eastbound on 390th Street. Parra failed to stop for the stop sign at 390th Street, entered the intersection and the two struck.

Two passengers in the Honda, Maikol Segobia, age 28, and Alfredo Lira, age 24, of Chicago died at the scene as a result of their injuries. Both drivers and three other passengers in the vehicles were transported to Sioux Center Health for treatment of their injuries; two of those passengers were later flown to Mercy Hospital in Sioux City and Avera McKennan University Health Center in Sioux Falls for further medical attention.

Assisting the sheriff’s office with emergency response were the Iowa State Patrol, the Sioux Center Police Department, Sioux Center Fire Department, and ambulance services from Sioux Center and Ireton. This is a joint accident investigation between the sheriff’s office and the Iowa State Patrol.
