Fire severely damaged a home in Sheldon Saturday evening. Sheldon Fire Chief Brad Hindt says they were called to East 9th Street shortly before 7:30pm and found smoke coming out of the chimney and heavty smoke in the living room window.
Firefighters located the fire in a basement bedroom where it was extinguished. According to Hindt, the cause of the fire appears to be electrical.
The house received severe damage to the basement and heavy smoke damage on the main floor and according to Hindt is uninhabitable until repairs can be made. Nobody was in the residence at the time of the fire; however, two cats and two rabbits were lost in the blaze.
