Seventh Street Crossing Opens to East-West Traffic in Sioux Center

The Seventh Street North crossing of Highway 75 in Sioux Center is opening to east-west traffic Friday, providing another route across the construction zone before the first day of school.

The crossing is located near Casey’s gas station. Traffic signals at the intersection will flash red, meaning all motorists must stop before proceeding. The City of Sioux Center is asking drivers to use extra caution because construction vehicles and crews will remain active throughout the area.

Highway 75 will remain closed from Fifth Street North to just south of Seventh Street North. Another closure remains in place from just north of Seventh Street to near 12th Street North as crews continue working toward project completion.

The Seventh Street intersection is open only for east-west traffic. Drivers cannot travel north or south on Highway 75 through the construction zone.

The gravel crossing at Ninth Street Northwest also remains available. Drivers may use that crossing to reach the Econo Lodge, Mi Lupita and other businesses located along the east side of the highway.

City officials thanked the contractors who prioritized work near Seventh Street so the crossing could open before students return to school.
