A semi driver from Minnesota and a passenger were transported to the hospital with minor injuries after a rollover crash south of Hospers over the weekend.
According to the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office, deputies investigated the accident shortly before 2:50 Saturday afternoon on Highway 60, about one mile south of Hospers.
Authorities say 51-year-old Eugene Cleland of Round Lake, Minnesota, was driving a 2009 Peterbilt semi tractor-trailer when the vehicle traveled onto the shoulder of the roadway. Deputies say Cleland then lost control, and the semi rolled into the west ditch.
The Peterbilt sustained an estimated $157,000 in damage.
Cleland and a passenger were transported to Orange City Area Health System with minor injuries.
Cleland was cited for Failure to Maintain Control.
The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the Hospers Fire Department, Hospers Ambulance, Granville Fire Department, Orange City Police Department, and the Iowa State Patrol.
