Rules For Using Fireworks in Sioux Center

Use of fireworks will be allowed in Sioux Center at set hours from June 13 to July 8.

The city follows the state law regarding the times of day during which fireworks are allowed:

  • 9 a.m.-10 p.m. on June 13-July 8
  • 9 a.m.-11 p.m. on July 4 and the Saturdays and Sundays immediately preceding and following July 4 (this year the final date is Saturday, July 8).

“We ask Sioux Center residents to use safety and common sense as they celebrate,” said Officer Kelli Willett, Sioux Center Police. “We also ask people to stick to the allowed hours and pick up any trash after using fireworks. It’s important to be safe and respectful to others while we have fun.”

Using fireworks outside the allowed dates/times is punishable by a fine of at least $250. People must be 18 or older to purchase and use fireworks.
