The City of Rock Valley has announced plans to construct three new pickleball courts at Bicentennial Park, funded through a private donation from Premier Bank.

The project will bring dedicated facilities for one of the country’s fastest-growing recreational sports to the community park, offering a new venue for exercise and gatherings for residents across various ages and skill levels.

Mayor Kevin Van Otterloo credited Premier Bank with enabling the city to pursue the addition after initial budget constraints.

“We are extremely grateful to Premier Bank for making this project possible,” Mayor Van Otterloo said. “The City had identified the need and wanted to provide our residents with additional recreational opportunities, but finding the funding to make it happen was the challenge. Premier Bank’s generosity allowed us to turn that idea into a real project. This is exactly the kind of community partnership that makes Rock Valley such a great place to live.”

City Administrator Tom Van Maanen noted that the bank’s donation prevents local taxpayers from carrying the full cost.

“The City is appreciative of Premier Bank’s willingness to invest in this project,” Van Maanen said. “Their contribution allows us to add a valuable recreational amenity without placing the entire financial burden on local taxpayers. We are excited to see the courts become a part of Bicentennial Park and look forward to residents enjoying them for many years.”

City officials state that details regarding the construction timeline and expected completion date will be released as plans are finalized.
