The wait is nearly over for Northwest Iowa viewers ready to follow Carter Krull on Survivor.
The Rock Rapids native and 2020 Central Lyon graduate makes his debut tonight when Season 51 premieres.
As Krull shared in our earlier feature, his journey began with years of watching the show with his family. Wednesday nights meant church, pizza, and debates about how he might perform in the challenges.
“It’s a show that I’ve always watched,” Krull said. “And yeah, it was about a year ago. The promo is not a joke at all. I was sitting watching the show, eating cheesy puffs.”
After host Jeff Probst encouraged viewers to apply, Krull recorded an audition video the next day. That decision ultimately landed the moving company co-owner and family farm helper a spot in the competition.
Ahead of the premiere, Krull said hearing from other longtime fans around the area has made the experience more meaningful.
“It’s not like, you know, now looking back that you just made it on a TV show,” Krull said. “It’s like, no, you made it on a TV show that a lot of other people from this neck of the woods knows about and I guess cares about, you know.”
Tonight, viewers begin finding out how Krull fares in the pursuit of the million-dollar prize. The show airs at 7 o’clock tonight on CBS. The season will also be available to stream on Paramount+.
