Rock Rapids Man Charged with Felony Domestic Abuse Assault

(KIWA) — A Rock Rapids man faces a felony domestic abuse assault charge following an incident at his home.

According to a criminal complaint filed by the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office, 35-year-old Tyler Tuenge is accused of assaulting his wife and possessing marijuana.

The complaint says deputies responded to the home in the early morning hours after Tuenge’s wife called 911. When no one answered the door, deputies entered through an unlocked door and found the couple in the basement.

Deputies reported finding marijuana and drug paraphernalia in plain view.

Tuenge was charged with domestic abuse assault impeding air or blood flow, a Class D felony punishable by up to five years in prison upon conviction. He also faces a misdemeanor charge of possession of marijuana.

Tuenge has entered a plea of not guilty. A preliminary hearing was scheduled for Tuesday, October 27.

He was booked into the Lyon County Jail in Rock Rapids and released the same day after posting a $6,000 cash or surety bond.
