Rock Rapids Man Charged after Nearly 300 Grams of Marijuana Found in Search Warrant

A Rock Rapids man is facing felony and misdemeanor drug charges following the execution of a search warrant at his residence earlier this month.

According to a criminal complaint filed in Lyon County District Court, 42-year-old Christopher Lee Cuff of Rock Rapids has been charged with failure to affix a drug tax stamp, a felony, along with possession of marijuana, second offense, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Authorities say the charges stem from a search warrant executed at Cuff’s residence on First Avenue in Rock Rapids around 12:30 a.m. on March 1st.

According to the complaint, officers located approximately 285 grams of marijuana inside the home, along with multiple glass pipes containing burnt residue, rolling papers, and a marijuana grinder.

Court documents state that Cuff admitted the items found during the search belonged to him.

The amount of marijuana recovered exceeded the threshold requiring a drug tax stamp under Iowa law, which led to the felony charge.

Cuff is also charged with possession of marijuana, second offense, indicating a prior drug-related conviction.

Online court records show Cuff was arrested and later released after posting a $6,300 bond.
