A Primghar woman has been sentenced in a case involving theft from a dependent adult. Jennifer Storm pled guilty to one count of theft and two counts of caretaker-dependent adult abuse by exploitation exceeding $100. According to court documents, she was sentenced to five years each for the abuse charges and ten years for the theft charge. All these sentences are to be served concurrently, meaning Storm will serve a maximum of 10 years in prison.
When Storm was first arrested, the Iowa Medicaid Fraud Control Unit said she stole more than $23,000 from 21 different residents at Pride Group, a mental health service provider in Primghar. Investigators claim the thefts happened while Storm was working as an administrative assistant at Pride Group between November 2020 and March 29, 2023. As an administrative assistant, Storm was responsible for residents’ money. As part of her sentence, she must pay over $45,000 to the Pride Group for financial damages.
Storm was originally facing 12 charges, but eight counts of dependent adult abuse and one count of ongoing criminal conduct were dropped as part of her guilty plea.
