Premier Communications is warning email users about a scam message impersonating the company and claiming changes are being made to its webmail security system.
In an alert shared on social media, Premier says the email appears to come from the company but contains several warning signs, including unusual font and formatting, vague wording, and a reference to attached documents when no attachments are included.
The example shared by Premier carries the subject line “Important Notice.” It claims the current security system has been phased out and directs recipients to review attached documents. The message also uses a signature identifying the sender as the Premier Communications administrative team.
Premier encourages anyone receiving a similar message to pause and read it carefully before taking action.
“Remember, the scammers are counting on you rushing and making mistakes,” the company says in its alert.
Recipients should not click any links or reply to the email. Instead, Premier advises reporting the message and deleting it.
Anyone unsure whether an email is legitimate can contact Premier directly to verify it through the company’s contact page.
Premier is also encouraging people to share the warning to help other Premier email users recognize the scam.
