PPEL Property Tax up for Renewal in Sioux Center

Every 10 years, the PPEL (Peppel) property tax is up for renewal in Sioux Center. The Sioux Center Community School District was surprised this year with negative enrollment, only the 4th time this has happened in the last 20 years. Here’s Sioux Center Public School Superintendent Gary McEldowney on how that affects the Public School.

Many schools in the region are experiencing a similar decline in enrollment this year, and McEldowney believes this is for a variety of reasons.

McEldowney explains that the tax doesn’t fund all of the school, but only goes towards certain necessities.

McEldowney says that the levy isn’t anything new to the community.

You can vote on the PPEL Property Tax Levy renewal this coming Tuesday, November 4th, at the Terrace View Event Center.
