Popular Sioux Center Thrift Store Celebrates New Name and Logo

Family Crisis Centers’ thrift store, formerly known as Melissa’s Hope Chest, has officially rebranded as “Renewed Hope Thrift Store” following a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Thursday. This change will more clearly communicate the store’s purpose and mission, says executive director Jessica Rohrs.

Located near the Sioux Center Walmart, the thrift store is known for offering high quality used clothing, household décor, and kitchenware. Proceeds from the store directly support Family Crisis Centers’ mission of aiding victims and survivors of abuse and violence. The rebranding also includes a new logo similar to that of the Family Crisis Centers.

Renewed Hope Thrift Store is extending its donation hours to 9 a.m.-9 p.m. Monday-Saturday. Retail hours will remain at 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Friday and 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturdays.

The store frequently provides items directly to those in need, with Family Crisis Centers clients able to shop for free. This past summer, flood victims were invited to shop free of charge. Items are also distributed to organizations like Hope Food Pantry and Justice For All. Executive Director Rohrs went on to highlight the importance of local thrift stores for affordable shopping, particularly in times of rising prices.

The Renewed Hope staff says that all are welcomed to shop at the store and customer purchases go even further since there’s no sales tax on the items purchased. The rebranded store continues its mission of serving the community and supporting victims of violence.
