Authorities have identified the man who drowned over the weekend in Plymouth County.
The Plymouth County sheriff’s office says 27-year-old Gerardo Mendoza Coria, of South Sioux City, Nebraska, died on Saturday.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, Coria drowned at Kellen Ponderosa, a swimming lake located south of Le Mars.
At about 7 p.m. Saturday, the Plymouth County Sheriff’s Office received reports of a missing person and possible drowning at Kellen Ponderosa. After making it to the area, first responders recovered Coria’s body from the water, and a medical exam ruled his cause of death as drowning.
The Le Mars Police Department, Le Mars Fire and Rescue, the Iowa Department of Natural Resources and the Sioux County Dive Team assisted at the scene.
