The Pella Corporation Sioux Center team has awarded $25,000 in grants to three local nonprofits after the plant was named the inaugural Spirit Award Plant Winner by the Pella Rolscreen Foundation.
The honor is part of the Joan Kuyper Farver Spirit Awards program, which recognizes Pella team members who lead change through volunteering and community service. As the Spirit Award winner, the Sioux Center team was allowed to select local nonprofit organizations to receive the funding.
The team chose to support Siouxland Habitat for Humanity, Hope Food Pantry, and Mid-Sioux Opportunity—organizations addressing housing, food security, and family support needs across the region.
“I’m incredibly proud of our Sioux Center Operations team for the caring spirit they demonstrate every day — both in our plant and throughout our community,” said Matt Mellema, Sioux Center Plant Manager. “Receiving the Joan Kuyper Farver Plant Spirit Award is an honor, and we’re grateful for the opportunity to support these three outstanding community partners through these grants.”
Grant Recipients and Use of Funds
Hope Food Pantry received $10,000 to support food purchases, equipment, and supply upgrades.
Director Marianne Sjaarda thanked Pella for its generosity, saying the company’s community support “truly makes a difference in the Sioux Center area.”
Mid-Sioux Opportunity, Inc. also received $10,000. The funds will support the Sioux County Food Pantry, Emergency Crisis Funds, and essential operations at the Sioux County office.
Outreach Director Laura Benson said the support will help the organization continue meeting critical community needs.
Siouxland Habitat for Humanity was awarded $5,000, which will go toward a new home build planned in Orange City in 2026. Sioux County Director Kurt Franje said the organization is grateful for the support and congratulated the Sioux Center plant on earning the Spirit Award.
In addition to the Spirit Award grants, Pella’s Sioux Center plant donated $1,000 each to Habitat for Humanity and Hope Food Pantry earlier this October.
