Sioux County residents will have another opportunity Tuesday evening to learn more about data centers and ask questions directly of PathOne Data Centers.
Sioux County shared an announcement inviting residents to a community information meeting Tuesday, August 25, at American Reformed Church in Hull. Doors will open at 5 p.m., with the meeting beginning at 5:30 p.m.
The church is located at 911 First Street in Hull.
Meeting Focused on Data Center Information
According to the announcement, PathOne plans to explain how data center projects are evaluated, developed, and operated. The meeting will also address common questions surrounding data centers and include an open question-and-answer period.
PathOne emphasized that no specific data center project is being proposed at the meeting.
Instead, the company says the purpose is to provide information, answer questions, and hear from members of the community. Residents are invited to attend regardless of whether they support data center development, oppose it, or simply want to learn more about the industry.
Data Centers Have Drawn Significant Local Discussion
The meeting comes amid continued discussion over potential data center development in Sioux County.
Earlier this summer, Sioux County supervisors enacted a one-year moratorium on new data centers and industrial battery storage projects in the county’s unincorporated areas while officials consider how those developments should be regulated.
PathOne has also participated in previous public discussions surrounding a potential data center development near Perkins Corner. Those discussions included an in-person community meeting and a virtual information session.
Tuesday’s event, however, is being presented as a broader educational meeting rather than a presentation of a particular development proposal.
