Passenger Injured After Deer Collision South of Orange City

A passenger was injured in a crash involving a deer south of Orange City earlier this week.

According to the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office, the accident happened Monday, April 20th, just before noon at the intersection of Highway 60 and 500th Street, about six miles south of Orange City.

Authorities say 73-year-old Daniel Cloeter of Lincoln, Nebraska, was driving a 2026 Nissan Sentra southbound on Highway 60 when a deer entered the roadway and was struck.

A passenger in the vehicle, 73-year-old Marjorie Cloeter of Lincoln, Nebraska, was transported by Orange City Ambulance to Orange City Hospital with what were described as minor injuries.

Officials estimate the vehicle sustained approximately $4,000 in damage.

The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by Orange City Fire and Ambulance and the Alton Fire Department.
