Orange City Man Sentenced for Domestic Abuse Assault

An Orange City man has been sentenced in Sioux County District Court on charges of Domestic Abuse.  According to a press release from Sioux County Attorney Thomas Kunstle, the case started December 21, 2023, when the Orange City Police Department responded to a report of a domestic altercation in Alton. Their investigation revealed that 42-year-old Joseph Roth of Orange City had pulled his wife out of her vehicle and threw her to the ground. The victim received abrasions to her left elbow, left knee, and left upper thigh.

According to the release, Roth pled guilty to Domestic Abuse Assault Causing Bodily Injury and was ordered to serve 180 days in the Sioux County Jail, with all but two-days suspended. Roth was further ordered to probation with the Department of Corrections, pay multiple criminal fines, and successfully complete the Iowa Domestic Abuse Program. The No Contact Order previously protecting the victim was extended the maximum term of five years.
