Orange City Area Health System has announced the appointment of Chris Sietstra as its next Chief Executive Officer, effective July 6.
Sietstra will succeed longtime CEO Marty Guthmiller, who plans to retire later this summer after 32 years leading the organization. During Guthmiller’s tenure, OCAHS expanded healthcare services and facilities while growing access to care across northwest Iowa.
Sietstra has served as OCAHS Director of Finance since 2024. Hospital officials say he has played an important role in strategic planning, financial oversight, and organizational growth efforts during his time with the health system.
A graduate of Northwestern College, Sietstra is also a Certified Public Accountant and has experience managing accounting teams and overseeing complex financial operations.
Guthmiller praised the selection in a statement announcing the transition.
“Chris is immensely talented, and I am confident that he will lead well and with integrity, upholding our culture and values,” Guthmiller said. “In addition, he has an incredible group of Senior Directors to lean on and assist OCAHS to reach even higher heights in the years to come!”
Sietstra says he is honored to take on the leadership role and continue building on the organization’s mission.
“It is an incredible honor to be selected as the next CEO of Orange City Area Health System. I am grateful for the confidence the Board has placed in me,” Sietstra said.
He added that during his time at OCAHS, he has seen the dedication of staff, providers, volunteers, and leadership, as well as the trust communities place in the health system.
“I look forward to collaborating with our great people here at OCAHS to continue providing top-notch, compassionate healthcare – building on the strong foundation established by Marty and those who have helped shape our organization over the years.”
Hospital officials say Sietstra will work closely with Guthmiller and the senior leadership team in the coming weeks to help ensure a smooth transition.
OCAHS also announced that the search process for the organization’s next Director of Finance will begin immediately.
