Orange City Area Health System has taken a major step forward in surgical care with the addition of the new da Vinci 5 Surgical Robot—the first of its kind in Northwest Iowa.
The state-of-the-art system enhances minimally invasive surgery by giving surgeons greater precision and control, resulting in less pain, smaller scars, and faster recovery times for patients.

Speaking on Sioux County Radio’s Daily Grind program this morning (Tuesday), Orange City Area Health System CEO Marty Guthmiller believes the use of this robot is a glimpse into the future of surgical medicine.
Guthmiller notes that patient care at Orange City Area Health System has continued to evolve over the years.
The da Vinci 5 will be used for a variety of minimally invasive procedures, including urology, gynecology, and general surgeries. Guthmiller highlights the benefits of incorporating the da Vinci 5 into their surgical program.
Guthmiller says the impact of the new technology won’t just be valuable for the patients and surgeons.
The public will have a chance to see the da Vinci 5 robot in action during an open house on November 11. A demo system will be available for visitors to explore and even try out, with surgeons and staff on hand to answer questions.
The event will take place in the front lobby and surgery waiting room at Orange City Area Health System, with additional details to be announced soon.
