Orange City Area Health Foundation Receives Grant for Birth Center

The Orange City Area Health Foundation has been awarded a grant from Variety – the Children’s Charity of Iowa to enhance care for newborns and families at the Orange City Area Health System (OCAHS) Birth Center. The grant funds the purchase of a third Panda Warmer and provides 504 Halo SleepSacks.

OCAHS is a nonprofit healthcare system serving over 18,000 patients annually. It has been recognized by the Women’s Choice Awards as one of America’s Best Hospitals for Obstetrics and Patient Experience.

The new Panda Warmer will ensure that each labor and delivery room has its own unit, even during busy periods when multiple births occur close together. It also functions as a procedural table for circumcisions, frenectomies, and newborn testing. The Halo SleepSacks will be gifted to families of newborns to promote safe sleep practices by reducing loose blankets in cribs and preventing over-layering.

“Obstetric care is a vital service at Orange City Area Health System,” said CEO Marty Guthmiller. “Support for equipment like the Panda Warmer and SleepSacks strengthens our ability to provide safe, high-quality care. We’re deeply grateful for Variety’s recognition of this important work.”
