A 17-year-old Orange City teen was cited following a two-vehicle crash Friday afternoon, October 24th, at the intersection of Highway 10 and Frankfort Avenue SE in Orange City.
According to the Orange City Police Department, the crash happened around 1:45 p.m. when a 2020 Chevrolet Trax, driven by Kamryn Ann Weg of Orange City, struck another vehicle while attempting to make a right turn on red from Highway 10 onto Frankfort Avenue SE.
Police say Weg’s vehicle hit the rear passenger side of a 2020 Honda CR-V, driven by 80-year-old Sharon Jean Kleis, also of Orange City. Kleis told officers she had a green light and was traveling south on Frankfort Avenue SE when the collision occurred.
Kleis was transported by the Orange City Ambulance to Orange City Area Health System for evaluation. Weg and her two passengers were not injured. Both vehicles sustained an estimated $8,000 in damage and were towed from the scene.
Weg was cited for disobeying a traffic control device.
