One man died in a two vehicle accident on Wednesday North of Inwood. Lyon County Sheriff’s deputies, the Iowa State Patrol, Inwood Fire and Rescue, the Larchwood Fire department, and Sandford Canton-Inwood ambulance responded to 911 calls at 10:35am to the 2200 block of Highway 182.
The Iowa State Patrol says a 2024 Chevrolet Blazer, driven by 90 year old Stanley Kroese of Sioux Center had slowed to turn into a driveway, when his vehicle was struck from behind by a 2013 Chevrolet Tahoe, driven by 39 year old Jennifer SImpson of Rock Valley. Both vehicle’s came to rest in the east ditch.
Kroese died from injuries suffered in the collision. A passenger, 84 year old Joane Kroese, was taken by ambulance to a Sioux Falls hospital.
Simpson, and two children in her vehicle were also injured, and taken to the Sanford in Sioux Falls.
The crash is under investigation by the Iowa State patrol Technical Collision investigation unit.
