One Dead, Two Injured in Head-On Crash Near Spencer

A Spencer man was killed and a Hartley man was injured in a head-on collision Tuesday morning on the west edge of Spencer.

The Iowa State Patrol says the crash happened just before 7:30 a.m. on Clay County Road B24, just west of 190th Avenue. Troopers report that 35-year-old Ryan Cundiff of Spencer was driving west in a Chevrolet Traverse when his vehicle crossed the center line and collided head-on with an eastbound GMC Acadia driven by 20-year-old Gabriel Campbell of Hartley.

Cundiff died at the scene. Campbell and a 5-year-old passenger were injured and were taken by ambulance to Spencer Hospital.

The Clay County Sheriff’s Office assisted at the scene. The crash remains under investigation by the Iowa State Patrol.
