Old Parlor Meat Company Announces Expansion to Hull

A family-run meat business rooted in agriculture is preparing to expand its footprint in Northwest Iowa.

Old Parlor Meat Company is owned and operated by Curt and Emily Van Grouw, who launched the business in 2020 by renovating the Van Grouw family dairy milk house into a custom meat processing facility. What once served the family’s dairy operation now houses the company’s main processing room, with added space for a slaughter room and walk-in cooler, and freezer.

Located southeast of Rock Valley, Old Parlor Meat Company is a custom-exempt red meat processor, handling beef, pork, lamb, and goat. As the business grew, the “old parlor” itself became the company’s first retail outlet before the Van Grouw family relocated retail operations to downtown Rock Valley at 1507 Main Street.

Now, the business is preparing for its next chapter.

According to a recent announcement on the company’s Facebook page, Old Parlor Meat Company plans to open a second retail location in Hull. The new shop will be located in the current Siouxland Strength gym building, once the gym completes its move to a new location.

The Van Grouws say the expansion will allow them to better serve customers across the region, to become a one-stop meat shop for the Hull community.
