Ohio Man Arrested in Lyon County Grooming Sting

An Ohio man has been arrested in Lyon County following a sting operation that led to felony and misdemeanor charges involving alleged online communication with a minor.

According to records from the Lyon County Clerk of Court’s Office, 40-year-old Gustave Peterson of Millersport, Ohio, is accused of sending multiple obscene images to a law enforcement officer he believed was a 15-year-old girl and attempting to “seduce, solicit, lure, or entice” the person into unlawful sexual conduct.

Court documents indicate the alleged behavior began in November and continued into December before the investigation concluded.

Peterson was arrested Sunday and charged with grooming, a class D felony. If convicted, he could face up to five years in prison. He is also facing 15 misdemeanor counts of disseminating obscene material to a minor in connection with the alleged incidents.

A preliminary hearing on the charges is scheduled for February 12th.

At last report, Peterson remained in the Lyon County Jail in Rock Rapids in lieu of a $32,000 bond.
