The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office responded to a vehicle accident Tuesday morning involving a school bus and a passenger vehicle on Highway 18, about two miles east of Hull.
Authorities say the crash happened just after 8 a.m., when a 2013 Blue Bird school bus driven by 74-year-old Wesley Dykstra of Hull slowed to turn into a private driveway. A westbound 2021 Buick Encore, driven by 16-year-old August Goehring of Alton, lost control and struck the rear of the bus.
Twelve students were on board the bus at the time, but no injuries were reported.
The Buick received an estimated $6,500 in damage, while the bus sustained about $750 in damage. Goehring was cited for following too closely.
The Sheriff’s Office is continuing to investigate the incident.
