Authorities say no one was killed after a Remsen St. Mary’s girls basketball team bus was involved in a serious two-vehicle crash Saturday afternoon on Highway 75 in Plymouth County.
The Plymouth County Sheriff’s Office says multiple 911 calls came in around 12:53 p.m. on November 15, reporting the collision between a Remsen St. Mary’s school bus and a southbound Jeep Compass near the intersection of Highway 75 and County Road C-80.
Investigators say the 2014 StarCraft Prodigy bus was stopped on C-80 and attempted a left turn onto northbound Highway 75 when it collided with the 2016 Jeep Compass in the intersection. Both vehicles came to rest partially on the roadway.
Multiple people were injured, including several students on the bus, but authorities confirm there were no fatalities. Several patients were taken to hospitals in Sioux City, Sioux Falls, and Omaha by ambulance and helicopter, and Highway 75 was temporarily shut down for crash reconstruction.
