Nine Injured in Bus vs. Pickup Crash in Sioux Center

Nine people were injured after a pickup failed to yield at an intersection in Sioux Center Saturday afternoon.

According to an accident report from the Sioux Center Police Department, 22-year-old Rudy Ramirez Simon of Hull was driving a Toyota pickup northbound on Highway 75, approaching the 16th Street South intersection.  A charter bus driven by 26-year-old Eriayana Frazier of Omaha was travelling southbound, approaching the same intersection.  The report says Ramirez Simon failed to yield to the bus as he attempted a left turn onto 16th Street, in front of the bus.  The vehicles collided in the intersection.

Eight people on the bus received minor injuries, as did Ramirez Simon, the driver of the pickup.  Emergency personnel assessed the injuries, and none were taken to the hospital.

Ramirez Simon’s Toyota pickup was totaled, with $15,000 in damages, and the commercial bus sustained about $20,000 in damages.
