Motorists helped a driver escape a burning car early Friday morning near Alton. The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office investigated a single vehicle accident shortly after midnight Friday two miles north of Alton on Highway 60.
Authorities report 25-year-old Madison Borden of Sanborn, driving a Buick Terraza northbound on Highway 60, lost control of her vehicle, entered the median, rolled, and started on fire. Other motorists were able to extricate Borden from the vehicle which sustained about $5,000 in damage.
Borden was taken to the Orange City Hospital for treatment of minor injuries. Authorities say alcohol may be a factor in the crash which remains under investigation.
