Motor vehicle accident in Hull leads to arrest

An accident in Hull on Saturday, led to the arrest of a Sioux Center man.

The Sioux County Sheriff’s office investigated a motor vehicle accident that occurred on Main Street, and Railroad Street in Hull.

19 year old Eli Klein of Hull, was driving a 2014 Chevrolet Silverado northbound on Main Street. Juarez-Lira was driving a 2017 Buick Lacrosse westbound on Railroad Street. Juarez-Lira failed to stop for the stop sign at Main Street, entered the intersection and struck Klein.

No injuries were reported.

Upon further investigation deputies suspected that Juarez-Lira was under the influence of alcohol. Juarez-Lira was transported to the Sioux County Jail where he was charged with operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated and cited for operating a motor vehicle without a valid driver’s license, failure to provide proof of financial liability (accident related), and failure to obey stop sign. The owner of the Buick, Marcario Hernandez, of Dakota City, NE, was cited for permitting unauthorized person to drive.

The Silverado sustained approximately $30,000 in damage; the Buick sustained approximately $28,000 in damage.

The sheriff’s office was assisted by the Hull Fire Department and Hull Ambulance.
