Relief from mosquitos is on the way in Sioux Center as city officials approved a mosquito spraying program that begins tonight (Tuesday). Bug Masters of Okoboji will spray for mosquitos throughout the community during the overnight hours each Tuesday for three weeks from about 10pm to 4am – weather permitting.
Sioux Center Parks Director Lee Van Meeteren says the spray used is not harmful to pollinators, and it’s an oil-based concentrate that is safe for humans, pets, and gardens, however it is suggested residents close their windows overnight and keep pets inside while spraying occurs.
This service was approved at Monday’s City Council meeting.
