The MOC-Floyd Valley Board of Education announced this morning that they have hired Mr. Larry Carlson as their new Middle School Principal.
Mr. Carlson is currently serving as an Instructional Coach and Counselor in the Benton Community School District. Prior to that position, he was a middle school math teacher and head boys basketball coach. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Education from the University of Northern Iowa, a Masters in School Counseling degree from Drake University, and a Master of Education in School Administration from Dordt University.
“Mr. Carlson has an exceptional ability to build positive relationships with students, while at the same time supporting our educators in raising achievement and maintaining a safe and nurturing learning environment,” said Superintendent of Schools Mike Mulder. “We are looking forward to the many positive attributes Larry will bring to our team as he assumes his role as our new middle school principal.”
Carlson fills the role vacated when Chris Yaw announced in March that he was returning to Northwestern College.
Mr. Carlson will begin his new position with the MOC-Floyd Valley Community Schools on August 1, 2025.
