The O’Brien County Sheriff’s Office is investigating after a missing person was found dead Saturday, September 12, at a Little Sioux River access in the county.
According to the sheriff’s office, authorities received information about a missing person from the Fairmont, Minnesota, Police Department around 8:30 a.m. Saturday.
Around 3:30 p.m., an O’Brien County deputy located the missing person’s vehicle at the river access identified in the release as Burnt Bridge on Wilson Avenue. The individual was found dead inside the vehicle.
The access is on the north side of the Little Sioux River, just north of the O’Brien County Prairie Heritage Center near Peterson.
The sheriff’s office says it is investigating the death as a suicide. No foul play or suspicious circumstances are suspected.
The individual’s identity was being withheld pending notification of next of kin, according to the September 12 release.
